first_imgNew Donegal manager Rory Gallagher is permitted from gathering his squad together for collective training until December 29th.Donegal will be permitted from resuming collective training until December 29th, after the GAA announced its staggered roster system for inter-county teams.Donegal, Kerry, Kilkenny and Tipperary are all restricted from resuming collective training until the 29th of December as the four teams reached their respective All-Ireland finals.The Donegal U21 side is permitted from resuming training until January the 1st, while the Minor team will have to wait until February the 1st. Inter-county managers have criticized the staggered roster system in the past, and the fact it’s almost impossible to police has drawn severe criticism from some quarters.Many inter-county teams don’t adhere to the system and carry on with their schedules regardless, although there is heavy fines imposed on any county found guilty of breaking the rules.Rory Gallagher was appointed as the new Donegal manager on Friday night, and it’s likely his first job will be to discover how many players intend to retire from inter-county football.There are strong rumours that both Colm McFadden and Rory Kavanagh are set to retire from inter-county football. Gallagher will be boosted by the news that double All-Star Neil Gallagher is ready to play on for another year at least.The staggered roster for counties is as follows:November 15 (teams knocked out in June) – London, Fermanagh, Derry, Offaly, Louth, Westmeath, Waterford, Leitrim (football); Antrim, Laois (hurling)December 1 (teams knocked out in July) – Antrim, Longford, Wicklow, Wexford, Cavan, Down, Carlow, Tyrone, Limerick, Laois, Roscommon, Clare, Sligo, Tipperary (football); Clare, Offaly, Waterford, Wexford, Dublin (hurling).December 8 (teams knocked out in August) – Meath, Kildare, Galway, Cork, Armagh, Monaghan, Mayo, Dublin (football); Cork, Limerick (hurling).
