Business news network CNBC announced that it will partner with Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James to create a new reality series focusing on burgeoning entrepreneurial opportunities in Cleveland. James will serve as producer on the series, which is set to debut this summer.“Cleveland Hustles speaks to the network’s entrepreneurial spirit and also creates an opportunity to help strengthen communities that have fallen on hard times,” said Jim Ackerman, EVP, Primetime Alternative, CNBC.The announcement comes during a low point in James’ relationship with his beloved Cleveland, after the news that there would be no indictment of Officer Timothy Loehmann in the shooting death of 12-year-old Tamir Rice. The boy was playing in the park with a toy gun when Loehmann and his partner, Frank Garmback, arrived on scene and shot Rice within seconds. The event sent shock waves through the Twittersphere and sparked a #NoJusticeNoLeBron campaign to ask the superstar to sit out until there was an indictment.James admitted he did not know enough about the case to speak on the subject.Regarding the new show, CNBC says:NBA superstar LeBron James and his longtime friend and business partner Maverick Carter will give four aspiring local entrepreneurs the chance to realize their own dreams while also helping to revitalize a neighborhood in Cleveland. LeBron and Maverick will enlist the aid of four trusted business experts and associates, who will in turn invest in and mentor fledgling entrepreneurs who need a little jumpstart. In success, these four businesses will provide jobs and services for neighborhoods that desperately need investment.Cleveland Hustles continues his charity and commitment to the community he loves, even though he dropped the ball on the Tamir Rice issue.

Former England footballer Danny Mills says Manchester United lack the capacity to drop underperforming players unlike their rivals who do so effortlessly.Mills told The Debate in an interview obtained by Skysports that Mourinho was not blessed with the same strength in depth as some of United’s rivals, meaning he could not keep his players on their toes to achieve results. He said: “Where he has had a problem with some players is that Guardiola can drop anyone, and bring someone else in. You can’t complain about it because he has the quality to bring in, that squad is exceptional”“Mourinho doesn’t really have that depth in his squad. It’s difficult when he drops a big player, does he have the quality to replace them? No he doesn’t, in all honesty.”“It’s a bare squad in some ways. Look at Lukaku, he’s not performing and hasn’t scored at Old Trafford in a long time. But who does he bring in? He can’t. At Manchester City you’ve got players who can step in, and at Liverpool too.”“There’s competition for places. Do Manchester United have that? I’m not sure they do.”Maguire says United need to build on today’s win George Patchias – September 14, 2019 Harry Maguire wants his United teammates to build on the victory over Leicester City.During the summer, Harry Maguire was referred to as the ultimate…On the plan to buy new players, Mills said:“Jose is used to winning, he’s used to top players and he’s used to consistency. It might be a bit dour, the way he plays, but he knows what he wants.”“He wants seven or eight out of 10 every single week. He doesn’t want Jesse Lingard being brilliant one week and terrible the next, he doesn’t want Marcus Rashford doing the same, he wants a solid platform.”“Jose has never been one to really improve players or bring them through as Pep, Klopp and Pochettino have done.”“Mourinho wins trophies, but he does it with a team he can bring in of exceptional players he can mould together, and he hasn’t really been allowed to do that.”

DIBYANGSHU SARKAR/AFP/Getty ImagesThe Bharatiya Janata Party has accused the Trinamool Congress of acting like sore losers after the disastrous Lok Sabha election results for Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal. It is being claimed that Trinamool Congress cadres damaged public property “to teach a lesson to the locals” for supporting the saffron party. The BJP has registered a landslide victory in West Bengal and increased its seat count from two in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections to 18 this year.According to IANS, the Trinamool Congress cadres damaged tubewells and snapped water lines in three localities of West Burdwan and Birbhum districts. It was done as BJP received more votes in the Kanakpur polling booth of Birbhum Lok Sabha constituency.”All tubewells in the village have been damaged, because BJP has done well,” said local BJP worker Laltu Mondal. In protest, the villagers gheraoed the house of local panchayat member of Trinamool Congress, Panchanan Das. He denied his party’s hand in damaging the tubewells but promised to repair them.”Nobody can say that Trinamool, or a panchayat member, or some other local club has done all this. BJP has won. It is trying to put the blame on us,” he said. The tubewells were later repaired.
Arthur made the startling claim in the post-match press conferenceIAN KINGTON/AFP/Getty ImagesPakistan’s coach Mickey Arthur is known for being passionate and emotional. His thoughts are rather transparent when Pakistan is on the field thanks to his highly-expressive body language. It is no wonder therefore, that he seemed as affected by all the shrill criticism coming the way of his team as the players would have been.Arthur was the man who turned up for the post-match press conference after his team’s triumph over South Africa. He lambasted the critics who had been targeting his team and said the players were very badly affected by all the poison being spewed. But there was one revelation about the effect of this negativity in the media on himself that, though made as a casual aside, was rather shocking. While answering a question about the South African team and explaining the difficulties faced by a side going through a tough phase, the South African coach of Pakistan said: “It happens so quickly, you lose a game, you lose another game, it’s a World Cup, the media scrutiny, public expectations, and then, you almost go into survival mode. I mean, we’ve all been there. Last Sunday, I wanted to commit suicide.”Mickey Arthur “last Sunday I wanted to commit suicide” #CWC19 pic.twitter.com/Xkb3IgD0QS— Saj Sadiq (@Saj_PakPassion) June 24, 2019TwitterThe part about wanting to commit suicide should scare everyone. It is very possible that Arthur was not fully serious when he said this. Maybe, it was an exaggeration. But the fact that he even mentioned this is an indicator of the extreme pressure that must have been on him after the disaster against India. This is also an important lesson for critics. Yes, when the team performs badly, there is a need to point out the errors, but sometimes, the words are so poisonous, they can have a much more serious impact on players and support staff than a loss in a game should occasion. Hopefully, Pakistani media would learn from this experience.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. File PhotoThe Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Saturday took a fresh vow to continue its movement for ‘ousting’ the ‘monstrous’ government to ‘restore’ democracy and people’s rights.“We’re taking a pledge on this day of our founding anniversary to continue our struggle to remove the monstrous government, and free our leader Khaleda Zia for the restoration of democracy,” said BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. He hoped that their party’s efforts to end ‘misrule’ will turn out to be a successful one very soon, reports UNB.The BNP leader came up with the remarks while talking to newsmen after placing wreaths at the BNP founder Ziaur Rahman’s grave along with party’s leaders and activists, marking its 40th founding anniversary. He alleged that the government has snatched people’s basic rights and destroyed all the democratic institutions. “It’s now the main challenge for the BNP to restore democracy and people’s rights.”Several hundred BNP leaders and activists together with Fakhrul, party standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Abdul Moyeen Khan and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury gathered at Zia’s grave at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital around 10:00am and paid homage to their party founder by placing wreaths. They also offered a munajat seeking eternal peace for Zia’s departed soul.Meanwhile, the party and its associate bodies are celebrating its 40th founding anniversary with various programmes. On 1 September 1978, late president Ziaur Rahman founded the party with a 19-point programme to build a self-reliant Bangladesh. The party holds a public rally in front of its Naya Paltan central office at 2:00pm.Party senior leaders said they have a plan for a ‘massive showdown’ in the rally to invigorate its rank and file ahead of the next general elections.Earlier in the morning, the party flag was hoisted atop the BNP’s Naya Paltan central office and all other offices across the country, marking the day.Besides, the party’s associate bodies and its all units across the country are marking the day holding various programmes, including discussion meetings. The party will also organise a discussion at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh on Sunday. The party is celebrating the founding anniversary this year without its chairperson Khaleda Zia as she has been in jail since 8 February after a lower court convicted her in a graft case. After the assassination of Zia on 30 May 1981 in Chattogram, his widow Khaleda Zia took over the party leadership. In its 39 years’ journey, BNP had been in power for four times and was in the opposition bench twice. But following the 5 January 2014 election boycott, the party is now out of parliament. The BNP has been out of power for over 11 years since the 1/11 political changeover.Senior leaders of the BNP think they are passing through the toughest time since the party’s foundation as it is out of power for a decade, but they hope it will turnaround very soon braving all the odds and obstacles.

HM ErshadHealth minister Zahid Malik on Monday evening said Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad, now undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, has been put on life support as his condition turned critical, according to UNB.Talking to newsmen after vising Ershad at the CMH, the minister said, “His (Ershad’s) condition can be described as critical. He is on life support, and the overall situation is critical.”He said all the possible treatment is being provided to Ershad at the CMH. “Everything now depends on the will of Allah. All should now pray for his recovery. The physicians said he is not in a condition that he could be sent abroad.”Zahid Malik added, “Ershad is being given the treatment that he is supposed to be provided abroad. His health condition doesn’t permit to take him abroad. So, there’s no plan to send him anywhere.”Mentioning that the Jatiya Party chairman’s condition is improving, Malik said he will recover if the trend of improvement continues. “If his condition deteriorates further, there’ll remain nothing to do.”Ershad’s younger brother and Jatiya Party acting chairman GM Quader and party secretary general Moshiur Rahman Ranga were present when the health minister was talking to the journalists.Earlier in the day, GM Quader urged all not to spread rumours over the health condition of his brother Ershad.Speaking at a press conference at Jatiya Party chairman’s Banani office around 1:00pm, he also said Ershad’s condition is stable and remains unchanged, but still not out of danger.Ershad, also the leader of the opposition in parliament, was admitted to the CMH on Wednesday morning as his condition deteriorated. The former military ruler has been suffering from various old age complications, including low haemoglobin and liver problem, high bilirubin and serious knee pain.

Explore further © 2017 Phys.org Three ‘super-Earth’ exoplanets orbiting nearby star discovered (Phys.org)—NASA’s prolonged Kepler exoplanet-hunting mission, known as K2, has revealed the presence of another “super-Earth” alien world. The newly found planet, designated EPIC 246393474 b (or C12_3474 b), is more than five times more massive than the Earth and orbits its parent star in less than seven hours. The discovery is reported November 6 in a paper published on the arXiv pre-print repository. Kepler is so far the most prolific planet-hunting telescope. The spacecraft has discovered more than 2,300 exoplanets to date. After the failure of its two reaction wheels in 2013, the mission was repurposed as K2 to perform high-precision photometry of selected fields in the ecliptic. Since then, the revived Kepler spacecraft has detected nearly 160 extrasolar worlds. Researchers have used K2 to detect so-called “super-Earths” – planets with masses higher than Earth’s but lower than that of the solar system’s gas giants. In September, astronomers have confirmed the discovery of three super-Earths orbiting a nearby star, which were first spotted by this spacecraft. Now, an international group of researchers led by Oscar Barragán of the University of Turin in Italyusing K2 has detected one more such planet.”In this paper we present the discovery of EPIC 246393474 b (hereafter C12_3474 b), an ultra-short-period planet transiting a K7 V star,” the astronomers wrote in the paper. The Kepler spacecraft observed a K-type main sequence star known as EPIC 246393474 from December 2016 to March 2017 during its Campaign 12. The star is about 740 million years old with a radius and mass approximately 33 percent smaller than that of the sun.As a result of these observations, the researchers identified a transit signal in the light curve of this star. The planetary nature of this signal was later confirmed by follow-up observational campaign using ground-based telescopes, including the WIYN 3.5-Meter Telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona.According to the study, EPIC 246393474 b has a radius of 1.54 Earth radii and is 5.3 times more massive than our planet, indicating a density of approximately 8.0 g/cm3 and suggesting a rocky-iron composition. The exoplanet has an equilibrium temperature of 2,039 K.”The planetary density is consistent with a composition made of a mixture of iron and rocks. We estimated that the iron content of C12_3474 b cannot exceed about 70 percent of the total planetary mass,” the paper reads. What is most interesting about EPIC 246393474 b is that it has an ultra-short orbital period. Barragán’s team found that it orbits its host every 6.7 hours at a distance of about 0.007 AU. This makes it the shortest-period planet known to date with a precisely determined mass. The researchers noted that the close distance of EPIC 246393474 b to its parent star suggests that it has lost its entire atmosphere due to stellar irradiation. However, they added that further mass measurements of transiting ultra-short-period planets should be performed in order to confirm this theory. More information: EPIC 246393474 b: A 5-M⊕ super-Earth transiting a K7 V star every 6.7 hours, arXiv:1711.02097 [astro-ph.EP] arxiv.org/abs/1711.02097AbstractWe report on the discovery of EPIC 246393474 b, an ultra-short-period super-Earth on a 6.7-hour orbit transiting an active K7 V star based on data from K2 campaign 12. We confirmed the planet’s existence and measured its mass with a series of follow-up observations: seeing-limited MuSCAT imaging, NESSI high-resolution speckle observations, and FIES and HARPS high-precision radial-velocity monitoring. EPIC 246393474 b has a mass of 5.31±0.46 M⊕ and radius of 1.54+0.10−0.09 R⊕, yielding a mean density of 8.00+1.83−1.45 gcm−3 and suggesting a rocky-iron composition. Models indicate that iron cannot exceed ∼70 % of the total mass. With an orbital period of only 6.7 hours, EPIC 246393474 b is the shortest-period planet known to date with a precisely determined mass. This document is subject to copyright.
